Avishek Das, Dr.

Avishek Das is an architect and researcher specializing in robotic and digital fabrication, human–robot collaboration, and human–technology relationships in the built environment. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Jadavpur University and a Master of Architecture from CEPT University, with a major in Architectural Design and a minor in Architectural Conservation. During his time in CEPT University, Avishek earned his Fab Academy diploma from FabLab CEPT, where he was a regular contributor and mentor.

From 2018 to 2024, he worked as a Research Assistant and PhD Fellow at Aalborg University, Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology (Denmark). During this period, he contributed to several human–robot collaboration projects in close collaboration with local masonry schools and industry partners. His doctoral research examined the role of virtual and augmented reality, with a particular emphasis on critical human–technology relationships in architectural design processes, focusing primarily on contemporary Danish architectural practices.

Following his PhD, he briefly held a Postdoctoral Researcher position at Aarhus University, where he developed human-readable, AR-based instructional systems for Mansard roof repair in collaboration with Tech College Aarhus.

In 2025, he joined the research group as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where his work focuses on the simulation of collaborative human–robot construction processes. His current research is conducted within the framework of the DFG Research Unit FOR 5672, The Information Backbone of Robotized Construction.
