A healthcare monitoring app for pet owners in Barcelona
The context:
Through research, it was found that there are more pets than children in Barcelona! The pet population in the city continues to grow. To cater to this section of the society, the city has come up with different initiatives, both physical and digital. On the digital side, there are various interactive maps on several independent websites that allow people to look for facilities in the city for their pets, like clinics and dog parks. On the physical side, the government has set up many affiliated rescue centers in the city that allow for safe and documented adoption of rescue dogs. We concur that there is a lot of data out there, but no unified platform that can benefit both the pet owners, and the database of the government.
So, what can be a solution?
We propose that the solution the above stated problem could be an app, Pet.AI, that could work as one platform that helps pet owners with their searches while simultaneously updates the database of the government portal. The process would be as follows:
1) The base would be the adoption centers set up by the government
2) Each pet given for adoption would go with collar tags with set up QR codes for the identification for the pets.
3) Pet,AI: The app then allows the pet owners to register their pets using the tags. On one hand, the app allows them to search for the different pet related amenities in the city like vet clinics, dog parks, etc, and set up a community. The tag on the pets also help monitoring the everyday activities of the pets and record the data. On the other hand, all the data gets sent and stored in the government database.
4) The government and other affiliated parties can use the data for further analysis so as to make informed decisions on setting up more strategic interventions in the city to benefit pet health.
