Site: Pl. de Sant Jaume
Plaça de Sant Jaume, located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, is a historic and political hub, home to the City Hall and Palau de la Generalitat. As a central urban space, it offers a dynamic blend of civic activity, tourism, and cultural events. The square’s rectilinear layout, flanked by neoclassical façades, provides a structured yet adaptable setting for pavilion design. Key considerations include pedestrian flow, historical context, and visibility, making it ideal for an interactive, context-responsive structure that engages both locals and visitors.

Fabrication
The pavilion is constructed using a system of wooden frames with pre-cut holes, allowing round ties to pass through and securely hold the frames in place. A tensile net is anchored at the vertices of these frames, creating a lightweight yet stable structure. Each frame is precisely rotated and positioned based on the base geometry, ensuring a seamless connection between elements. The frames are assembled following a modular approach, where their alignment and interconnections maintain the overall structural integrity. This strategy enables efficient fabrication, easy assembly, and adaptability, making the pavilion both structurally sound and visually dynamic.
