Adriana Aguirre Such

Adriana Aguirre Such is a Spanish Urbanist and Architect by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with experience in urban planning and design, both in academia and practice. She completed a two-year Master in City & Technology (MaCT02) program at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC-UPC). Her current research focuses on developing innovative approaches for climate change adaptation, with the aim of creating more resilient cities and territories.
In her current role as a researcher in the Adaptation to Climate Change team at Tecnalia Research & Innovation, she works on territorial planning and urban design to boost climate resilience. She is collaborating in key European projects such as DESIRMED, Urban Nature Plans Plus (UNP+), Regions4Climate (R4C), while supporting public administrations of different scales to implement effective climate adaptation strategies through innovative planning and design.

Previously, she worked at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) as an assistant professor, and was the coordinator of the MaCT. At the Consorci del Besòs, she participated in the development of the Agrovallbona Master Plan, an urban regeneration project focused on sustainability and the integration of urban agricultural communities. In addition, she was Spain correspondent for the German architecture magazine Bauwelt, contributing to the dissemination of innovative projects. She has also also collaborated with urban innovation offices such as Land Lab and Paisaje Transversal and with the Center for Environmental Studies (Centro de Estudios Ambientales) of Vitoria-Gasteiz, for the elaboration of technical studies for the General Urban Development Plan. Her work has been highlighted by several awards and recognitions among them the FEMTech Award of the Barcelona City Council, the Forum of Innovation and Inequality of the COTEC Foundation, the Open Data Competition of the Basque Government, and her participation in the Spanish pavilion “BECOMING” at the Venice Biennale, among others.
