Adriana Chávez

Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in NY in the Master of Architecture and Urban Design program. She holds a Masters in Urbanism, Landscape and Ecology and a Masters in Architecture II, both from the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). She graduated in 2014 and received the Urban Project Award. She is co-founder of ORU, Office of Urban Resilience, a design thinking practice that focuses on implementing innovative solutions for cities through urban design and landscape infrastructure with a water-sensitive approach. She is an Architect from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where she graduated with honors in 2008. Adriana’s work explores the urban-environmental dimension at different scales and contexts. Her work ranges from applied research in urban-environmental issues to landscape design and planning. Adriana’s professional experience spans the public, private and development banking sectors. She has been a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the Housing and Urban Development Program (HUD) within the Emerging and Sustainable Cities Program in Mexico. She has also worked as an urban resilience advisor for the Mexico City Resilience Agency, within the 100 Resilient Cities initiative promoted by the Rockefeller Foundation. She collaborated closely with CDMX Resilience Director Arnoldo Matus, participating in the creation of the Mexico City Resilience Strategy, leading urban planning and mobility areas. Within the resilience office, he contributed greatly to the construction of the city’s urban resilience agenda, contributing to projects such as the “Mexico City Resilience city, contributing to projects such as “Towards a Water-Sensitive Mexico City” in collaboration with the CDMX Public Space Authority, De Urbanisten and Deltares. Adriana has also been an advisor to the Regional Government of Santiago in the implementation of the Santiago Resilience Strategy.
