Josefina Ovalle Parot is a Chilean architect, urban planner and designer whose work explores the intersection of public space, ecology, and data-informed urbanism. She began her career in the public sector and worked for Chile’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, where she led waterfront, park, and neighborhood regeneration projects in territories shaped by institutional fragmentation, environmental pressures, and unequal access to public space. These projects required multi-scalar analysis, coordination with public agencies and participatory processes that informed strategic interventions across diverse urban contexts. After relocating to Barcelona, Josefina completed the Master in Advanced Urban Planning & Data Analytics at IAAC, where she expanded her practice into geospatial analysis, machine assisted urban studies, and the use of open data to understand everyday urban life. Her investigations explore how computational tools and community knowledge can be combined to inform public space decisions and support more context sensitive planning. She is interested in bridging design, territorial analysis, and digital methodologies to support evidence based and human centered urban projects.
