Salvador Rueda is an urban ecologist, with a degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Barcelona, and a diploma in Energy Management from the UPC and in Environmental Engineering from the Ministry of Industry and Universities. He is founder and president of the Fundación Ecología Urbana y Territorial (Urban and Territorial Ecology Foundation), and was director of the Agencia de Ecología Urbana de Barcelona (Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona) from 2000 to 2020. In addition to other positions, he was coordinator of the Revitalization Programs for the Historic Center of Barcelona (1990-1992).
He has given seminars, among others, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the British Columbia University (UBC) and Harvard University (GSD). He has given more than 800 lectures and master classes in different institutions, such as the École d’Architecture, Montreal; Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona; Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid; Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla; Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos de Barcelona; Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos de Madrid, etc.
