Tomás Vivanco

Architect, Magister in Advanced Architecture from the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC); Magister in Advanced Design from ELISAVA, and PhD (c) in Architecture & Urbanism, Digital Futures group at Tongji University, Shanghai.

He has co-edited and published the books “How to revitalize cultural heritage through innovation and digital fabrication?”, “Fabricating Society,” and “The Counterculture Room”. He co-organised the 13th Global Fab Labs meeting, Fabricating Society Santiago 2017. His projects and scientific articles have been published and exhibited in Australia, USA, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Spain, England, Mexico, among others. His work focuses on distributed design, digital technologies for the development of sustainable communities and ecosystems, artificial intelligence for low energy material systems.

He is currently director of the regional station Fab Lab Austral UC; researcher at Fab City Global and the International Centre for Global Change Studies and Biocultural Conservation; co-director of the Master in Design for Distributed Innovation (Fab City); and professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
