Introduction to Programming and Physical Computing
The Smart Desk is an innovative workspace designed to enhance productivity and comfort through intelligent automation. Equipped with light level detectors, it monitors ambient lighting and adjusts room brightness to create an optimal work environment. Integrated motion sensors track the user’s proximity, activating a small propeller fan to provide a gentle breeze to remind the user to seat in proper position. By combining ergonomic features with smart technology, the desk encourages healthy habits and ensures a pleasant and efficient workspace tailored to the user’s needs.
Light Sensor
The light sensor in the SmartComfort Desk continuously monitors the surrounding light intensity using a photoresistor. When the ambient light is too dim, the system automatically increases the brightness by adjusting connected LEDs or overhead lights, ensuring a well-lit and comfortable workspace. Conversely, if the room is overly bright, the system dims the lighting to prevent glare and eye strain. This dynamic adjustment not only saves energy but also promotes a healthy work environment by maintaining consistent lighting tailored to the user’s needs.
Motion Sensor
The motion sensor monitors the user’s distance from the desk using ultrasonic technology. If the user leans too close, indicating potential discomfort or improper posture, the system triggers a small propeller fan to activate, creating a gentle breeze that encourages the user to adjust their position. This functionality combines ergonomics with personal comfort, ensuring that the workspace remains both inviting and conducive to productivity. The fan turns off automatically once the user moves back to an appropriate distance.
