Chasing Identity is a Generative Adversarial Network driven platform for finding variations of the architecture in the historical city center.

I am from the Republic of Tatarstan, which is situated in the center part of Russia. Initially the idea of the project was born from anger and from working for the government. Kazan city has more than 1000 years of history and at least the last 20 years there is a question…

Here we have some examples of controversial design decisions in Kazan, and the imagination of authors are not limited by design rules and following the city identity and city image. It is essential in terms of gradually creating a city brand and building its development strategy.

The platform based on: a survey with residents and local community + algorithm based on dataset of 100 buildings from Kazan city + 3D Generative Adversarial Network. As a result the user gets options of 3d models that can be a starting point for the design.

Looking at competitors who have the same idea using AI in Optimizing Design processes, they are available for subscribing and have options for different types of customers.  After studying their experience I am convinced that the Chasing identity platform can be lucrative and prosperous.

As a main customer I see the government and real estate developers, because they have access to the land in the historic city center and are really interested in simplifying processes in design development.

I was convinced after interviewing potential users of the product. And because I couldn’t ask direct questions, I asked something that they face each day.  Since the concept of a city’s identity is something intangible and difficult to measure, the main concern for them is maintaining the feeling of the place. And for another point of view, for real estate developers a problem is reducing time spent on design that will not be approved.
