Studio Link-Arc
The China Pavilion was designed by New York Based firm Studio Link-Arc for the Milan Expo in the year 2015.
Dismissing the idea of a cultural pavilion being a standalone object in a plaza, the China Pavilion is envisioned as a collection of spaces beneath a suspended cloud. The Pavilion encapsulates the theme of the project, “The Land of Hope,” through its distinctive roof design. This roof seamlessly blends the outline of a city skyline on the north side of the building with the contours of a rolling landscape on the south side, symbolizing the belief that the realization of “hope” occurs when urban and natural elements coexist harmoniously. Beneath this innovative roof, a landscaped area symbolizing the concept of “Land” incorporates the exhibition program of the building.
