Rendered visualization on Enscape 3D

The Furnish Kids program aims to improve public space through design interventions of tactical architecture. The design for this term has been developed to utilize natural materials such as Pine logs unused for previous Valldaura Labs projects and offcuts from wooden plan production. The materials have been cataloged, measured, and scanned for improved digital modeling. A specialized grasshopper script has been used to further optimize the shape of the vertical structure. Scaled and real-size models have been used to test and choose the appropriate dimensions for the seating, methods of module connections, and the material’s esthetic impression.

Set the profile curve-> Divide the curve -> Make perpendicular frames to the points on curve-> Construct Rectangles for the verticals-> Extrude with varying lengths with graph mapper-> Deconstruct Brep-> List item-> Curve length (to have the list of their heights)

The model for the base shape of the Horizontal tree log benches is done on Rhino7. The Grasshopper script for the heights of vertical elements aids in deciding the overall form of the design by using Graph mapper, in order to have a smooth flow in the movement of the verticals. The sizes of the verticals and the distance between vertical elements can also be controlled using the script.

Grasshopper script for the final design of the vertical elements

The Heights of the verticals were initially varied by the Gaussian graph to achieve the desired space
To optimize and simplify the production process of manufacturing the verticals by non-digital machines, the script was changed to a series of increases in 1 cm of height
The heights of the vertical elements were altered on Grasshopper using the different graph inputs.
Model on Rhino7 to understand the assembly of the horizontal log benches
CNC cut the curved profiles modeled on rhino; Selected unused tree logs are measured and modeled to cut the curved profiles from it
