I introduce to you my family in Barcelona?

Helena, Her daughter Lua, Monica & Roger, me, long hair Japanese,
And  We have a Catalan young brother…..

My Catalan young brother “Umi” !

My Catalan young brother “Umi”!

I often see dogs around Barcelona,?But  I can’t see stray cats and dogs. In the city area.
What population is the most animal pets in Barcelona,,,,

This is my theme

“Pets in Barcelona”!!

?

?

The Popular Pet Ranking in Barcelona.

5 Rabit,  4 birds, 3 Fish,,
And which is the most population in Barcelona,, Cats or Dog,,,

?

??

?

?

Is DOG!

They are 174,000 this is just been identified in the city office.
And it is estimated over 180,000. And cats are 28,000,,,

Owning at least one cat or dog in Spain from 2013 to 2021

Dogs are higher on average, at about 26%. Dogs seem to be more popular in Spain.
The percentage of cats dropped in 2017, I have Googled but could not find any specific reason.
The general opinion is that dogs are more empathetic and are closer to their owners. Cats are less hands-on, freer, and may have different likes and dislikes.

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

And I took Questionnaire for Iaac students on WhatsApp.

The result, Dog is popular too.
After I post, students start photo fighting, about how much they like cats and dogs,
I understand they love both.

So Turn back to Barcelona,

I looked at this number of dogs and used different data to see how many, if any, are similar to the number of children under 12.
This number of dogs exceeds, the number of children under the age of 12.
And the population of Barcelona is 1.723 million. The number of dogs has been 10%  population already.

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

Let’s look at a few comparisons between children and dogs.

?

Here is a comparison of
children’s playgrounds and dog parks.

Children’s playgrounds are 904, and there are 46 dog parks in Barcelona.

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

And next,, Toy shop and Pet shop.

These are the same number of shops, 38!

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

Adding up the two pieces of information to find out which areas are better for dogs and which areas are better for children.
According to this information,,,

For the children,

For the dogs,,

My place is El Poblenou, this is good for dogs and children too.

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

But there is a problem in Barcelona.

?

The worst problem is the abandonment of pets.

The blue line is the number of dogs and cats, recollected on the street by staff.
The green line is rescued from the owner directly.
The red line is the number of them, taken in a new family ruckly.
I’ve looked at other years and it seems to vary from year to year and in which months there are more.

These reasons include buying a pet as a gift for Christmas,
they get a pet without the information about their apartment,
Or they get a pet, but discover a serious illness and can’t afford to pay the costs,…
There are many selfish human reasons.
At the end of last year, 294 dogs and 227 cats remained in the city shelter.

??

?

?

?

And last,
this is the population graph by age

Now  Cities around the world have a problem with “aging”,

So in Barcelona, the average age of the population increase.
One day the dog population may exceed, by age comparison.

It may also soon be the day,
when the citizens of Barcelona will fight for
their pets, their Families.
