Design Reference – Architectural Precedent
Project: The Core (Education Centre), Eden Project.
Architect: Grimshaw Architects
Logic: The roof geometry is derived from the phyllotaxis found in plants. It utilizes two opposing sets of spirals to define a grid of structural nodes.
This pattern allows for an efficient distribution of structural members over a complex curved surface, ensuring uniform load paths while minimizing material waste.

Logic
Inference: Abstraction of the generative growth law (137.5°) to define the pavilion’s footprint and geometry
From the inferences of the growth logic from the Eden project, the intention is to create a vortex that grows along the ground plane rather than a flat dome.

Process & Pseudo Code

Iterations
Iteration 1:
The iteration produced a Phyllotaxis pattern of point to understand the logic of generating adapting natural geometries.

Iteration 2:
The script generated an Archimedean spiral with equidistant turns because the radius is increasing linearly, whereas a Fibonacci spiral requires exponential growth to widen as it rotates.

Iteration 3:
The iteration was much more closer to the required Fibonacci spiral.
However, the degree of the curves/arc were not accurate.
