Within the current global context of rapid change, integrated with the potentials of digital technologies, IAAC’s Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA) is committed to the generation of new ideas and applications for Urban Design, Self Sufficiency, Digital Manufacturing Techniques and Advanced Interaction.
In this context IAAC works with a multidisciplinary approach, facing the challenges posed by our environment and the future development of cities, architecture and buildings, through a virtuous combination of technology, biology, computational design, digital and robotic fabrication, pushing innovation beyond the boundaries of a more traditional architectural approach.
Course: MAA01 26/27 Introduction to Digital Fabrication Seminar
Detail Matters: Exploring Digital Fabrication in Architecture
How can digital fabrication transform architectural details into functional, expressive, and constructible elements? In this seminar, students design and prototype modular vertical elements for architecture, exploring the possibilities and constraints of laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC milling, and robotic fabrication. Through hands-on experimentation with materials, computational modelling, and machine-oriented production workflows, students learn to translate digital geometries into physical structures while considering fabrication efficiency, material properties, and construction techniques.
