Many physical objects are built / created with many layers of complexity. Some object of designed with basic primary forms like villa Savoye, while other objects are designed with a more complex form like pattern of a sunflower. Grasshopper is a different modeling system to the traditional programs (rhino, 3ds max) it allows the creation of more complex forms while having a greater control over the form. My goal during advanced architecture is to recreate some of the objects.
The project will use advanced digital tools (grasshopper) to reinvent traditional headwear. The following designs are a neo-traditional interpretation of headwear (tarboosh, beanies, conical straw hat and Coppola Romana). The design can be 3D printed in different materials with properties like the original material they were produced in.
A mashrabiya is an architectural element which is characteristic of traditional architecture in the Islamic world and beyond. It is a type of projecting oriel window enclosed with carved wood latticework located on the upper floors of a building, sometimes enhanced with stained glass. It was traditionally used to catch wind and for passive cooling. Jars and basins of water could be placed in it to cause evaporative cooling.
Achta or Atemoya is a cross breed of 2 tropical fruits. It was first breaded in 1908 in Miami. The fruit is characterized by hexagonal extrusion. the complex form of the fruit is created by mesh based component form the plugin weaverbird. The animation recreates the growth of a fruit till maturity. The script used is slightly modified to create a pavilion inspired by the fruit form.
