Description

A WORKSHOT more than a WORKSHOP

The Blitz-Workshop conducted by Manuel Gausa, Co-founder of the IAAC and aimed at MACT students wants to be an inductor and catalyst of ideas and/or concepts that can serve to launch future and more developed propositions for the Installation and prototypes “Llobregat ReCitying” that must be realized in the next course by the direction of Alejandro Haieck, a prestigious architect and Land-artist.

In this sense we could talk about a WORKSHOT more than a WORKSHOP.

A workshot where the challenge is to shoot, in effect, different brain-stormed proposals in quick and expressive formats.

A Workshot is a quick percussive format that wants to contribute to “select” and “manipulate” key elements and potentials that are in the working context.

Conceptual framework

If we understand the new logics –associated to a new Advanced Urbanism– in relation with the challenges of a new informational era –and the capacity,

in this one, to multiply the interactions between conditions and information(s)– we need to understand in what terms we define “information”, not only as a data-parameter or a data-indicator but as a more enlarge concept associated to other assimilated key-terms (programs, solicitations, patterns, matters, behaviours, networks, holistic and metabolic contexts) able to be combined in (and through) new –and more– open strategic approaches. This MACT-TAK-Blitz-WORSHOT (MACT-Transversal Advanced Knowledge, Blitz Workshot) wants to aid the students to work with strategic concepts and quick expressions (3d collages, manipulated recycled materials or folded cards, acc, able to synthesize latent capacities and immanent potentials in the territory.

Learning Objectives

At course completion the student will:

  • Understand the basics of a public blockchain in the urban context, including potential applications and their limitations
  • Be able to identify areas related to city management and city planning where blockchain can bring the benefits of decentralisation, self-verification, distribution and disruption
  • Be capable to design a real-situation project at proof of concept level, where blockchain is involved as a vehicle to solve that city challenge
