This project explores the use of various physics simulations using Kangaroo in order to reach a structurally viable design proposal for the IaaC rooftop.

Form Finding

The design relies on a combination of specific behaviors (below) that have been calibrated to achieve the desired form.

Defining the initial boundary of structure
Creating fixed anchor points along the boundary to define the arches
To determine heights of the arches and shape of dome volumes. The edge length strength affects the deformation of the structure.
Ensures mesh is fixed in line with the site’s perimeter.
Make the faces of mesh planar to create panels that can be fabricated as flat pieces, easing the manufacturing and assembly processes.
Randomizes the number, position, and ultimate distribution of panels in order to affect the lighting within the space
