Even projects that don’t go through the bureaucratic layer face some of the same challenges such as maintaining momentum, support, volunteers, and funding.

Similar to a makerspace, a maker-place helps navigate, create with, and demystify the technologies of bureaucratic organization. Where community ideas can receive guidance to the process and get connected to the resources needed to make it happen. Designed as a hybrid digital + physical approach to support small projects outside of the traditional festival scope, connecting community with local institutions and businesses

CONCLUSION + NEXT STEPS

  • A scalable solution to foster more community use and create a feedback mechanism in diverse public places
  • Further development of the platform
  • In reality:
    • Completion of the greenhouse + a management plan
    • Currently working with the collective to organize a small open air cinema in the scope of the fiesta mayor under the Coordinadora de Entitades
  • A regulation change to increase the 12 events permitted in one area per year (mostly based on noise) – to accommodate more, smaller events
