A New Market of Existing Materials for New Homes

Recyclink is a revolution in the way we can build new public housing. It’s an innovative approach, aimed at unlocking a new market, reducing waste, and creating sustainable, eco-friendly homes to transform the future of Public Housing Infrastructure.

Why Now?

There is a green revolution taking place in Europe. The ambitious goals set by the Green Deal requires all new buildings in the EU to have zero carbon emissions and increasing the use of recycled content in construction materials to 25%, are just the beginning, countries will have to double the renovation rate of buildings to at least 3% per year and create nearly zero-energy public buildings by 2050.

The Problem

The goals of the European green deal are a reflection of a harsh reality. The bigger problem these goals address is that trash from construction and demolition work accounts for a staggering 40% of all waste. and it’s not just the waste that’s a problem – up to 50% of the lifetime co2 emissions of a building are represented by its materials and construction!

Recyclink is aimed to lead the way in sustainable housing solutions by utilizing existing materials to build new homes, we’re not only reducing waste, but also cutting down on co2 emissions. It is a long term solution to a problem that affects us all!

Our Solution

A hyperlocal matchmaking platform is focused on urban mining – recycling, upcycling, and downcycling – of building materials for public housing. Our platform works with just three simple steps: we source existing materials, match them with compatible projects, and help rebuild them into new and beautiful homes. Our approach not only drastically reduces waste and CO2 emissions, but also promotes sustainable and responsible living for everyone in our communities, one home at a time.

Market Validation

The European market approximates to nearly 50 million people living in social, public, and cooperative housing. The EU has committed €78 billion for housing-related initiatives in the current budget (2021-2027), providing a massive opportunity for Recyclink to meet the growing demand for sustainable and cost-effective materials. With the goal of reducing the embodied carbon of buildings by 25% by 2030, Recyclink is perfectly positioned to fill the gap and meet the needs of this growing market.

Market Size

Recyclink has identified a significant market opportunity in match-making by bringing together three key stakeholders: contractors, demolishers, and certification agencies. This integrated approach creates a unified transactional market, resulting in a Total Addressable Market (TAM) of 300 billion euros annually in Europe. Recyclink’s Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM) amounts to 30 billion euros, with a Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) of 53 million euros per year. By harnessing the potential of existing materials and diverting construction and demolition waste from landfills, Recyclink would revolutionize the housing industry and establish a socially conscious market for urban mining.

Business Model

In the construction industry, the sourcing and matching of construction materials can be a time-consuming and opaque process, with stakeholders often working in silos. Recognizing this issue, Recyclink has developed an innovative solution that connects contractors, demolishers, and certification agencies in a seamless, end-to-end service that streamlines the entire process.

Through Recyclink’s platform, contractors can easily source materials, while demolishers can match orders to generate net demolition revenue. Additionally, certification agencies certify products to meet building standards, ensuring that only high-quality materials are utilized in construction projects.

Recyclink is a commission-based business model, charging just a 1% commission on every order fulfilled, net demolition revenue, and certification commission, providing a cost-effective and accessible solution for all stakeholders involved. This, combined with additional recertification services, encourages more users to join the platform, and offers a unique opportunity for investors to tap into a Serviceable Addressable Market of €30 billion.

As the demand for sustainable construction materials continues to rise, Recyclink is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend and provide a valuable service to the construction industry. By providing a transparent, efficient, and cost-effective platform that benefits all stakeholders involved, Recyclink is set to transform the construction industry and become a leading player in the sustainable materials market.

Our Competitors

Recyclink’s market research has identified a significant gap in the construction industry where current companies are holding materials as a bank and then selling them without directly connecting businesses in the process. This business model does not prioritize the specific needs of the construction industry, causing inefficiencies in material sourcing, management, and utilization. Recyclink’s hyperlocal matchmaking platform aims to bridge this gap by providing a seamless, end-to-end service that connects contractors, demolishers, and certification agencies to make sourcing, matching, and rebuilding construction materials more accessible and transparent.

Competitive Advantage

Recyclink’s platform stands out in the market as it caters to the public housing sector, presenting a unique opportunity for its hyperlocal matchmaking platform. While other companies are focused on private sector projects, Recyclink is addressing a gap in the public housing sector where no other company is looking. The platform’s hybrid business model taps into both B2B and B2C markets, providing a comprehensive solution that serves a wide range of customers, from contractors and demolishers to individual buyers. Recyclink’s approach is adaptable and versatile, making it an ideal fit for the dynamic and ever-changing construction industry.

Adoption Strategy

Recyclink’s growth strategy for the first 18 months involves a sharp focus on three key areas: new budget allocation and policies, strategic partnerships, and targeted events. Through these initiatives, the company aims to establish its platform in the market and build awareness among its target audience.

To position itself as a key player in the emerging circular economy, Recyclink plans to align its business with key EU green initiatives such as the European Green Deal and Housing Europe. The company’s partnerships with leading industry organizations, including REZERO, will provide it with the necessary resources and support to accelerate growth and achieve its goals. Additionally, participating in major events like the Smart Cities Expo and European Sustainable Energy Week will help Recyclink connect with potential customers, partners, and investors. These strategies are expected to enable Recyclink to establish a strong foothold in the market and drive growth in the coming years.

Our Ask

In order to achieve success in the recycling industry, our company has developed a detailed budget plan for the first 18 months, seeking a total of €400,000 investment. This funding will be divided into four areas, with €20,000 being allocated to legal and regulatory expenses to ensure compliance with industry standards. An additional €50,000 will be invested in marketing and advertising efforts to establish a strong brand presence and generate leads.

In addition, €100,000 will be dedicated to team expansion, including the hiring of software developers, building partnerships, and acquiring necessary equipment to scale the business. The remaining €150,000 will go towards product development, including launching our innovative platform, conducting user research and testing, building capacity, and utilizing advanced tools and technology.

The ultimate goal of this investment is to achieve 1,000 RecyLink transactions, which will serve as a significant milestone in demonstrating the demand and viability of our platform, and establish a strong foundation for future growth in the recycling industry.
