Design & Concept
For our project titled “A Cabin for the Future”, we focused on designing an innovative roof structure utilizing laser cutting technology. We aimed to challenge ourselves by opting for a curved roof created through the technique of ‘folding’ an 8mm polypropylene sheet.
This approach allowed us to explore the structural potential of folding without the need for adhesives, producing a lightweight yet sturdy form. The laser-cut polypropylene sheet enabled precise geometric tessellations, resulting in a robust and aesthetic form that aligns with the vision of our cabin.

3D Printing
The aim of 3D printing was to have an element that would act as a semi circular supportive arch which would encapsulate the structure and help it retain its form
CNC Milling
The technique of CNC was used to make the topographic contoured surface as well as an inner undulated seating/flooring surface for the cabin
