At the project media class, we were introduced to the various ways of presenting any project by means of different types of storytelling. We were shown that videomaking alone offers countless pathways to telling one’s story. To name just a few, this may be done by documenting the whole design process by videoing it, by conducting a series of interviews with participants, or by combining the two with the use of infographics. We were also instructed on the basics of videomaking and video editing with DaVinchi Resolve software.
We learned that stories can also be told with use of static pictures that are storyboarding the goings on inside the building as well. To help us make the best use of this type of media we were taught the basics of using the latest version of the program called Lumion. With this software, we were able to illustrate many scenes describing the hypothetical life inside our building.
Storytelling can be a very powerful tool for illustrating ideas from countless unorthodox angles to better connect with any type of audience. Whether one is using static or moving pictures, there are always ways of getting the desired idea across to viewers. However, a tool like this could also be a double-edged sword. If not directed properly, the viewer might end up getting a very strong impression of what is, perhaps, not the most important part of the project and thus becoming confused instead of being impressed or inspired. Armed with this knowledge, we are eagerly looking forward to a chance to tell stories of our future projects.
