Island Pods is an innovative application designed to create modular floating platform extensions for coastlines. Inspired by the Archipelago di Onco project, this tool enables municipalities and event organizers to design and customize floating spaces tailored to their unique needs.

The prototype focuses on the Princess Islands in Istanbul, a region known for its diverse island sizes and strong touristic appeal. With increasing demand for new public spaces that enhance the connection between the city and the Marmara Sea, Island Pods provides an intuitive solution for expanding coastal areas.

Inputs and Outputs

How It Works
The application offers a seamless, step-by-step process for designing floating platforms:
01. Select a coastline – Choose the location for the extension from the dropdown menu, and the camera smoothly transitions to the selected island.
02. Position the pods – Define the exact placement of the floating units, guiding points are placed along the borders of each island for easy decision
03. Adjust elevation – Modify the height difference between the coastline and the water for a perfect fit.
04. Extend the platform – Increase or decrease the length of the floating extension from the coastline.
05. Total Count – Select how many pods to be placed, distribution is equal between three modules.
Once these parameters are set, users can instantly generate a fully customizable floating platform.

A New Approach to Waterfront Design
Island Pods redefines coastal planning by offering a flexible, interactive, and efficient approach to waterfront development. Whether for public spaces, events, or recreational areas, this application allows users to create floating extensions that seamlessly integrate with any coastline.
