What is Eco-Construction?
“Eco-Construct” is a web-based app designed for architects, urban planners, and environmentalists. It assists in creating sustainable and efficient building designs by leveraging environmental data and urban context.
Why Eco-Construction?
Economical building construction is not just about reducing costs—it’s about optimizing resources, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring value for every square foot of construction. It embodies smart planning, where we choose materials and designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, and budget.
How it works?
To materialize the vision of the “Eco-Construction Cost Calculator,” an intricate Grasshopper3D definition is crafted within Rhino to forge a robust cost estimation tool. Recognizing that Grasshopper3D hinges on an active Rhino license and specialized mastery to navigate its User Interface, the Hops plugin is employed to democratize access. This ingenious step utilizes Rhino.Compute on an IAAC server, transforming the Grasshopper definition into a universally accessible asset.
Subsequently, the definition is seamlessly integrated into a web environment through meticulously crafted HTML, JavaScript, Three.js, and Vue components, all orchestrated within Visual Studio Code. The resulting web-app emerges as a user-centric platform that not only simplifies cost calculations for eco-construction projects but also revolutionizes the user’s interactive experience by encapsulating complex architectural computations into an intuitive web-based interface.
Once all inputs are provided, the website employs an algorithm to generate a rough cost estimate. This tool is especially useful for architects, clients, and students, providing a quick financial snapshot at the early stages of design.
This approach is facilitated by a website that has been designed to allow users to input key parameters of their construction project. Here’s how it operates:
Number of Floors: Users can enter the number of stories they plan to build. This impacts the structural requirements and, consequently, the cost.
Floor Area: By inputting the total area, the website calculates the base cost, accounting for space planning and material coverage.
Facade Material: The choice of facade material significantly affects both the appearance and the cost. Our website provides options ranging from economical to premium.
Number of Windows: Windows are essential for lighting and ventilation. The user can specify their number, influencing both the aesthetic and the cost due to variations in size and quality.
