WELL Building Standard is an international benchmarking system focusing from design features through operational aspects of a project. Water is a concept within WELL and one of the features showcase and support an early design adapter of drinking water stations. Even though the requirement is simple, it can be difficult to determine how to best start on how many drinking water station requires as well as where to place it on a typical floor layout. The drinking water stations are not to locate more than 30 meters from each door of each room.
The app focuses on a simple typical rectangular floor plan that at an early stage, a designer can input three parameters: the width of the floor plate, the length of the floor plate and rooms per one side on a floor plates.
The users are able to provide inputs as shown above and the app will update the floor plate geometry and provide total floor area as well as the number and approximate locations of drinkable water stations.
This tool can help designers to visualise and understanding on how the floor length can affect the total number of drinkable water stations to be provided and where they should be places on a typical rectangular floor plan. Additionally, the user can change the colour of drinking water stations to be shown on the model.
Design well and drink healthy.
