Concept

The design concept for the Spiritual Retreat Center draws inspiration from Antoni Gaudí’s profound integration of nature in the Sagrada Família. Just as Gaudí translated organic forms into architectural elements, we aim to go beyond mere inspiration by incorporating natural elements—sunlight filtering through dynamic openings, water features that enhance tranquility, lush indoor gardens fostering serenity, and immersive soundscapes that deepen spiritual connection. By harmonizing architecture with nature, our retreat creates a space where design nurtures the soul, echoing Gaudí’s vision while offering a contemporary environment for reflection and renewal.

In addition to natural elements, geometry plays a vital role in shaping the spiritual experience. Throughout history, sacred spaces have utilized geometric patterns to evoke harmony, balance, and transcendence. Fractals, sacred proportions, and flowing forms can create an environment that resonates with the human spirit. In our design, we integrate geometry inspired by nature—wave-like patterns that symbolize fluidity and movement, fractal-based structures that reflect nature’s infinite complexity, and sacred ratios that enhance spatial harmony. This fusion of organic design and geometric precision ensures a space that is both visually inspiring and spiritually elevating.

Shell Form Comparison

In our refined design, rather than using two paraboloids as in the original concept, we opted for a single paraboloid arranged in a polar array to shape the form. Additionally, we elevated specific points to expand the usable floor area, enhancing functionality while maintaining the design’s integrity.
