Topic Definition

“Nature to culture” in landscape design means treating the natural environment not as a backdrop, but as a medium through which a city’s history, traditions, and collective identity are made visible and lived.

Nature — plants, water, topography, materials — becomes the language through which culture is told.

Nature births culture – and as all children, culture gives it back to nature. This perfect lifecycle is what we aim to bring to our design

How can we increase biodiversity while maintaining the current human occupancy and creating a connection between culture and nature

Site Plan

We decided to focus on 5 main areas in the site: 1. High canopy street corridor, enclosed, continues stretch 2. Eastern Superilla – Seasonal gathering and activation, 3.Western Superilla – civic gathering space mirroring the street, 4. Open civic node – human occupancy hinge between street and park 5.Park adjacenet zone – a dense ecological zone, where planting where planting continuity with existing park can create an unbroken green interface.

02 | Strategic Design

Catalan paintings and poetry already encode the ecological memory of this place.

People protect and care for what they can name and recognise. We place species that appear in the poems people know .

Using human moments as ecological triggers

Analyzing the Paintings

Matrix analysis

Using a ComfyUI workflow, we have generated AI images that reimagine the streets of our site. We then extracted the sections from these images to study the canopy %, enclosure ratio, sight lines, etc.
