Leveraging Advanced BIM Strategies for Complex Architectural Realization
Contextual Framework – Traditional BIM workflows often struggle to accommodate the complex, fluid geometries characteristic of avant-garde architectural designs, creating a gap between conceptual vision and buildable reality.
Key Insight – Customized BIM workflows incorporating AI, computational design, and bespoke coding can enable the realization of complex architectural geometries when applied to design development, construction documentation, and project optimization.
Research Focus – Explore how C.F. Møller enhances their design process through customized BIM workflows. Which we specifically :
- Examine C.F. Møller’s integration of AI and computational design into BIM
- Investigate how these tools help translate complex geometries into buildable structures
- Assess the impact of these custom workflows on design creativity and project efficiency
- Evaluate how data-driven decision-making is improved through these advanced BIM methods

Insights From the Interview

“We use AI to get rid of the boring tasks so we as architects can have control of the fun part.”
— Matteo Paoli
“In our department, as Digital Methods Leads, it’s all about data handling and coding.”
— Mark S. T. Jørgensen
“We have two categories of tools: ones that can be used multiple times, which we invest more time developing through scripts, and others that are already available off-the-shelf. However, for the tools we create with our own scripts, we need a dedicated person to maintain them and ensure they work for each project. ChatGPT is useful, but the problem at the moment is that, to get a correct answer, you need to be able to ask the right question. To ask the right question, you need to know what you want to achieve. Maybe in the future it will be different, but at the moment, you still need to have the knowledge—if you don’t have the knowledge, you won’t know if the answer is correct.”
