What is craft? Craft as an area of exploration. Seeking to push our boundaries of fidelity and artistry with an acknowledgment of use; The merge between form and function, allowing for endless opportunity.
With this project our group’s aim was to explore the intricacies of craft in joinery, and to gain an appreciation of the work that goes into their uses. As we continued through the seminar we added more complexity and Japanese reference to push our digital and manual woodworking skills. The work of not only creating a functional joint but a beautiful one proved to be fruitful and developed a certain character around what we were able to produce.
Through these joints, our definition of craftsmanship came to light.
